I grew up with Tintin.
When I found out there was a musical, I nearly fell out of my chair. Back when the original production had it’s website still up, I’d play Kuifje en Bobbie OVER AND OVER. It was delicious crack. On top of that, I had a weird ass crush on Capt. Haddock, discovering Henk Poort was playing him (and would go on to play him in the revival for 2007) was icing on the cake.
I wish America could buck up and bring it over here. I have a feeling it’d win a lot of awards! Yet, I’m sure nobody would give a damn about it. I’d probably waste all my money seeing it over and over in New York. I’ll be the sole benificator of the musical.
… Or, better yet, I can get Steven Spielberg to fund a gala for me. :D
(Tiny squee moments from video?: Capt. Haddock finding out that Bianca is singing and totally flipping out and wanting to leave ; Bianca’s amazing Ah, Je Ris! ; Milou and Bianca having a sing off ; Tintin giggling with Milou.)
All in all, it’s such an amazing musical. It’s like Tintin/Indiana Jones/Musical/Spectacle rolled in one.
